So, today’s essential is OVERsized sweaters (or cardigans, or blouses, or tops, or whatever label you would prefer to insert here) and it happens to have two stories attached to it.

Story 1: First of all, you must keep in mind that dear sweet husband had no idea what essentials made the list, much less, why I kept trying on random outfits at 9:30 at night. So there husband sits, intensely working on homework and walk in the room to ask him if what I have on looks good together, and it happened to be this ensemble. I had to ask three times before he looked up! Can you believe that? In order of priorities, it should definitely be #1 wife’s fashion, #2 husband’s homework. He must have been confused. When he finally looked up, his answer was, “Oh, is that for 'anything big'?” referring to the giant flower brooch pinned to my sweater. Clearly not, clearly that outfit was for skinny jeans. And this outfit was for the oversized essential, or as husband called it, “anything big.” But, I graciously let that one slide and gave him props for realizing that oversized was an essential when I hadn’t even shown him the list yet! He’s a keeper.

Story 2: As you may, or may not, have noticed, Monday and today’s ensembles both included flower brooches from The Old White House Etsy shop. You see, I had been searching for a brooch pin for week or two when I found the blue one and knew it was meant to be. I was so excited to receive it that I happened to type a message to the seller letting her know my excitement. Then, she was so excited that I was excited, and so she sent me this extra coral brooch which only made me more excited. There was a whole lot of flower brooch excitement that week. But the moral of the story is, I will now leave excited messages to Etsy sellers when I purchase from them, in hopes that they will also be excited and send me an extra something for free.

Oh, and don’t forget to take a peek at Mackenzie’s post for today and see what she chose as her oversized piece! And leave me a comment, what do you like to wear oversized? Flowers? Sweaters? Big hair? I won't judge.

  1. I love oversized cardigans in the fall! But all of mine are stuck in a box in a friends house in another city! ; ( You look cute though, and that's a lovely story about the pins!
