Hello, 2012!

2012 01 02b

Dear 2012,

Well hello there. I am so excited to see what amazing things are in store for husband and I this year. Last year kicked hiney, with the wedding and all, so let's see just how awesome we can make this year be!

I'm already looking forward to the idea of graduating this year and getting a big girl job. I'm trying not to rush through my last semester of college, but it's really hard not to want it to just be over. There are so many things in question for this year, too. In all actuality, I have no idea where or if I will have a job after graduation, and I have no idea where husband and I will be living by the time the end of this year rolls around.

I'm also excited for many new things to come with my blog. And I can't wait to get started on some long awaited projects after graduation is over and I have a little more time to devote to my creative ventures.

But 2012, one thing I want to focus on this year is slowing down, enjoying the moment, and cherishing the people in my life right now. I recently heard a song on the radio and had one of those "Ah, hah!" moments when I realized the song described exactly everything I was feeling and going through at the time. The song is called One Day Too Late and is by a band called Skillet. Here are a few of my favorite lyrics from that song:

Tick tock, hear my life pass by
I can't erase and I can't rewind
Of all the things I regret the most I do
Wish I'd spent more time with you

Here's my chance for a new beginning
I saved the best for a better ending
In the end I'll make it up to you
You'll see, you'll get the very best of me

Time passes by, never thought I'd wind up
One step behind, now I've made my mind up

Today, I'm gonna try a little harder
Gonna make every minute last longer
Gonna learn to forgive and forget
'Cause we don't have long, gonna make the most of it

Today, I'm gonna love my enemies
Reach out to somebody who needs me
Make a change, make the world a better place
'Cause tomorrow could be one day too late

It just reminds me to cherish every single little moment in life and not take anything or anyone for granted. I only get to be in this exact moment once, and then it's gone, so I don't want to look back ten years from now and wish that I had savored it a little more, I want to savor every second of it right now. And I want to give my family and friends the very best me that I can because that is exactly how much they deserve, no less.

So 2012, I'm looking forward to seeing what you hold and looking forward to seeing all the changes come about. But most of all, I'm looking forward to savoring every second that you have to bring.

  1. Sounds like you had a really great year! Hope 2012 brings you more awesome things :)

  2. Great post! And I love your little lace vest :)

    The Other Side of Gray

  3. I definitely did! Thanks so much, and I hope it is great for you too!

  4. I love this concept that you came up with to write a letter of goodbye to 2011 and a hello letter to 2012. Kujo's (kudo's) to you, girl!

I hope 2012 is the best year yet for you.

  5. Yeah, thanks so much! Let's hope that it is too. And that both of us graduate and get jobs, haha.
